How Sattriya-Nritya came into being as a dance art form?

Sattriya dance has evolved into an independent art form and has established itself as a classical style in the Indian panorama of classical dances and has its origin as an integral part of the Ankia Bhaona ( a form vaishnava drama tradition written and enacted by Srimanta Sankaradeva and Madhavdeva the chief apostle of Sankardeva, great Vaishnavite saint of Assam in 15th Century. Madhavdeva presented the dance items on stage separated from the main drama and nurtured them as independent art forms.

Kamalabari sattra have kept up the dance tradition whereas, the other sattras did not give so much importance to dance but, concentrated mostly on Bargeet and so dance remained as a part of Ankia Bhaona only, with the other sattras.

P.S. I am trained in the Uttar Kamalabari sattra style.
